I am happy to update you on some developments regarding the work of The Peoples Convention.  There are a number of meetings going ahead which I would like to invite you to attend.

The meetings are:

·        Title: ’Political Parties, the City Budget & Paying Bondholders’

Venue: Blackrock Hurling Club, Church Road, Blackrock, Cork. When:

Monday 24th September at 7.30pm

·          Title: ’Be Informed .. Be Empowered’ (Public Meeting) Venue:

Community Centre, Youghal, Co. Cork.

When:  Tuesday 2rd October at 8.00pm

In addition, to help promote these events we need assistance distributing leaflets, if you can please join us in Cork city outside Ulster Bank in the middle of Patrick’s street, at 2pm on Saturday next.  In Youghal a leaflet distribution will take place on Saturday 29th, meet at 2pm by the Clock Tower.

It is intended that The Peoples Convention will provide a public forum in these areas for citizens to express their views on how our country is being run, on who is deciding the policies etc.  At the same time, we are continuing preparations for the next elections and encouraging citizens to take the responsibility of standing up for democracy.

I hope you can make it to one of the meetings or help with the leafleting.

If you are outside of the areas for these meetings then I would like to encourage you to take the initiative and organise one in your own Local Electoral Area. If you would like to discuss the practicalities of this or any other work to advance the democratic movement we will be happy to assist.
