Reblogged from The Slog. 3-D bollocks deconstruction:
Germany must accept it is not the only member to have suffered under the EU
I spent a weekend of glorious sunshine rediscovering places I don’t visit very often, and speaking at length with Germans. One of them pointed me at a book by the former Money Programme presenter Alan Watson, called simply The Germans. Written during the year or two following German reunification, it displays all the optimism of that time.
I agree with some of what you say, living here in Germany I can see the effects this whole business is having on ordinary people (Nil) that’s right most Germans are oblivious to the disastrous effect Mrs Merkel is having on Germany's Neighbours and business partners /customers .The ordinary Germans are still very well off and it doesn’t bother them they can’t now go to Greece this summer on holidays there are plenty of other destinations they can go to. The media here is doing a good job of selling the official line and that is the bailout countries had a big party and now they want the Germans, (who by the way weren’t invited to the gig) to pay the bill. There is no mention that it was the German Banks who bypassed their own though credit requirements for the promise of higher interest rates and when their investments went sour they had their government blackmail the smaller countries like Ireland, forcing them to socialize their private gambling debts, thus placing private toxic bank debts on to the shoulders of the taxpayers. Current German policy is alienating Germany from the rest of Europe and that is very dangerous for Germany!
